Hi, I’m Shota Ouchi from Japan. I joined the master course in April this year, 2017 after graduating Tokyo university. Through my graduation thesis, I conducted the research about the simulation of rice yield in Tanzania, which is located on the east coast of African continent. Concretely, I estimated the yield at some villages in Tanzania by running the crop model named APSIM and compared the result of it with the actual yield which I know by interviewing farmers there in person.
Now I’m interested in decision support systems for rice farmers Tanzania and try to implement it utilizing both a crop model and a weather forecast model.
